Since every single second is crucial in the event of a heart attack, the primary focus of Medical Center of McKinney’s accredited Chest Pain Center is to streamline the time required to identify and treat heart disease. Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, our Chest Pain Center is staffed by a dedicated team of nurse practitioners and Emergency Department nurses under the direction of a board-certified cardiologist.
MCM's accredited Chest Pain Center demonstrates its expertise in many ways including:
- Integrating the emergency department with the local emergency medical system
- Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients quickly
- Effectively treating patients with low risk for acute coronary syndrome and no assignable cause for their symptoms
- Continually seeking to improve processes and procedures
- Ensuring the competence and training of Accredited Chest Pain Center personnel
- Maintaining organizational structure and commitment
- Having a functional design that promotes optimal patient care
- Supporting community outreach programs that educate the public to promptly seek medical care if they display symptoms of a possible heart attack
